25 Colored Pupils Enroll St Johns School
St Johns School in this city began its 1954 1955 schedule with 497 pupils, the largest in its history. Twenty five colored pupils, including four in High School, are enrolled as the elementary section opens first and High School follows. The school, run by the School Sisters of Notre Dame, has a staff of twelve and faces crowded facilities while turning away about fifty applicants. The High School students include nine through eleventh grades, most transfers from Lincoln School.
