Dover England The air sea search for Ted May a 44 year old steel worker and father of nine who vanished during his second unescorted attempt to swim the English Channel was abandoned today. He entered the water at Cap Gris Nez at 445 AM towing an inner tube with canvas top supplies and hoped to reach the coast by 730 PM yesterday. The Dover lifeboat returned to base at 10 AM and RAF planes and launches were rerouted to their stations as hope faded.
