The fire damaged multiple units, with sprinklers possibly not hooked up and walls and roof structures failing. Fire crews worked from aerial ladders and deck guns as explosions and rapid spread forced evacuations. overhaul continued into the morning with repairs and hot spots being tackled. Twenty employees of nearby Frederick Manufacturing Co. were surprised at work, with many sidelined by the incident.
