Wilmington AP reports guard Donald Steen kept night watches at Hercules Ponder Co experiment station and country club, insisting he saw a tiger. State police traced the sighting with Lew Atwell, who identified tracks as a 170 pound Great Dane. Steen remains convinced despite Atwell’s dog verdict, noting the animal wandered from an orphanage grounds. Authorities dismiss the incident as mistaken identity amid no local animal shows.
