Three Frederick Men Sentenced in Rockville Case
Three Frederick men Alban Meredith Bartholow 20 William Lawrence Ingram 20 and Charlies Harry Baugher 22 were sentenced to not more than one year in the State Reformatory for Males by Chief Judge Charles W Woodward in Montgomery County Circuit Court at Rockville on charges of housebreaking and larceny. They pleaded guilty to a criminal information filed by State's Attorney Walter Dawson. Detainers were lodged for alleged crimes in this county and will go to the grand jury for indictment. The Montgomery county case charged breaking into the Dickerson Community Store August 9 and stealing meat and about 1.36 in pennies. a large plate glass window was broken. Locally they were accused of breaking into trucks of Ewing and Shafer on East Church street to steal beer and entering the Harris Garage at Buckeystown with tobacco and cash. Baugher is under several suspended sentences in magistrate's court. Investigator Allen Bartgis attended the Rockville hearing but did not testify. Police cooperated in the investigation leading to the arrests.

128 Miners Trapped In Pit In Scotland
128 miners were entombed at Knockshinnoch Castle colliery near New Cumnock after a rainfall caused a surface collapse. Rescue teams sought an escape funnel 700 feet down as gas concerns were addressed and a 30 foot coal wall separated the entombed from rescuers.
