Forte Pays Penalty in Innocence and Tragedy
In Weat Chester Pennsylvania on September 7 Riccardo Forte known as the Fiend of Howellville was hanged for the murder of two children after a failed suicide attempt. He knelt with a priest, prayed, and denied confession before the trap released. The brutal 1905 killings at Howellville involved a 4-year-old girl Marte Di Lucca and 7-year-old Domenico, followed by the death of another boy. Forte attempted escape and faced mob threats before capture. His body to be sent to Philadelphia hospital. family refused claim. He was tried January 1908 and found guilty of first degree murder.
