Dover September 6 The Delaware Republican state convention renominated Hiram R. Burton for Congress and Thomas N. Rawlins for state treasurer and nominated Thomas C. Roe for auditor. A new state committee, led by Du Pont allies, was chosen. A 114 to 33 vote ended the Union star emblem on ballots, with Addicks threatening court action to preserve it. The platform backs Roosevelt and tariff revision while supporting anti trafficking and antitrust enforcement. Mint rejected silver bids as too high.

Philadelphia reports three men seized on conspiracy charges tied to lootings of the Real Estate Trust Co. Frank Hipple, the president, killed himself after writing a confession note. Adolph Begal, William North, and Marshall Collingwood face multiple charges including bank funds misuse and depositor fraud.
Estes G Rathbone, convicted of postal frauds in Coda during the American occupation, asserts unfair treatment and vows to press Congress for a new trial. He argues he did not receive a fair hearing and contends he was entitled to due process. The late Mark Hedna backed Rathbone in his initial bid for a review.
William Jennings Bryan returned to Lincoln Nebraska to a hearty welcome from both parties. Though Lincoln leans Republican the reception was nonpartisan and festive with bands and a mounted escort. About 35,000 people gathered near the corral stand two hours before the exercises.
In Roanoke Virginia a street railway bridge over Tinker Creek collapsed as a Vinton to Roanoke car approached mid span. Five people were seriously injured and one teen died. about 19 passengers were aboard. Conductor Trout kept passengers from trampling each other during the panic.
In Columbus on September 6 Miss Annie Morgan aged 37 died of heart disease after a frightful dream in which a negro was over her bed with a knife. She ran from her room shouting, then collapsed. a physician and coroner attributed death to heart trouble.
Havana reports limited progress toward settling the Cuban revolt without bloodshed. Delegates from a veterans group head to insurgent camps led by Pino Guerra and others to gauge acceptability while a tranquil flag of truce task force moves toward Santa Clara province. Government commanders remain ready to resume active operations if talks stall.
B 8B Adams, once bank cashier and now manager for Quinn Sharpe Drug Co, was arrested by U S Marshal Wilson and taken to Jackson on a charge of being short $48,000 in cash while with Citizens National Bank. He left the bank in August last after confessing to C S Hackett and informing the bank.
Laborers uncovered a fresh dirt mound in the cellar of an unoccupied Scranton tenement. Investigation found naked remains of a female child. Police arrest Agxote Masolaski a Lithuanian woman and her lover Joseph Assorovitch on suspicion of parental involvement.

Salisbury NC Sept 6 George Genele, held without bail on the charge of jail breaking since the August 6 lynching, was acquitted after a 15 minute jury deliberation. He allegedly made a rope knot during the mob incident and denied participating in the lynching, but remains in custody and may face se under further charges.
