Washington reports Commander Robert E Peary plans a new Arctic dash starting about April in a ship built to endure the voyage. Trolley wreck kills one in mountain gorge
Wilkesbarre Pa Sept 7 a large trolley car on the Wilkes barre and Harvey's Lake railway wrecked in a mountain gorge five miles from the city plunging down a 30 foot embankment one passenger was killed and 11 injured. A stone on the track at a sharp curve caused the wreck and the perpetrator remains at large. Mrs Michael Wolfe of Luzerne borough was killed in the plunge. The motorman and conductor were only slightly hurt. Detectives moved to locate the unknown culprit. The injured include William Upstein Frank Rogall Thomas Haley and others from Scranton Wilkesbarre Towanda Annapolis Md and Westmore Pa.

A severe middle division Pennsylvania Railroad wreck at Ryde near Altoona on September 1 scatters forty cars across the tracks after an east bound freight collides with a following train. Three men are injured Braheman Maywall Engin er Buck and Fireman Welsh. Engine 2474 and 2230 involved. Property loss feared at about $100000.

Explosion at Ruppert ice factory injures ten men
In New York the Ruppert ice factory suffered a boiler room explosion breaking a three inch pipe. Ten workers, including Joseph Dilley who died, and John Dosse were badly burned or scalded as steam, water, coal gas and hot debris burst forth.
