Fromme thwarted attempt on Ford in Sacramento park
Lynette Fromme, a Manson follower, approached President Ford within two feet in a Sacramento park with a loaded .45. The pistol was loaded only in the clip. the chamber was empty. She was arrested on attempted murder charges and Bail was set at $1 million. Authorities noted intelligence agencies knew she was in town and linked her to Charles Manson but found no active surveillance. Ford praised Secret Service and said the incident would not stop him from traveling to connect with the public.

Union Bridge prepares for the second annual Union Bridge Days with hot air balloon rides as this year’s featured attraction.
