Quiet Labor Day In City Sees Weather Help lawns and gardens rebound
On Labor Day the city remained quiet as most industry paused. Temperatures near 60s rose to about 60 degrees after morning cloudiness. Rain eased, traffic held steady until evening. Braddock Heights saw special cars hauling fuel as resorts close for the season. Residents mowed lawns and tended victory gardens amid a dry summer but recent rains refreshed lawns across the area. Weather observer notes 24 hour precipitation near an inch in the city, with lighter rain elsewhere and much of the county receiving little rain.
