Children Return to School as Term Opens in City
After three months of vacation, city and county children began the 1922 23 scholastic year. Enrollment was heavy though not as high as in earlier years due to high school students awaiting the completion of the co educational building. At Church Street School 437 pupils enrolled with 220 in seventh grade and 133 in sixth. Principal is Prof J C Bieh. Sixth and seventh grade teachers are listed along with first and second grade teachers. No Academy estimate was available for the Academy Building. North Market Street School opened with 403 pupils, detailed grade rosters show 115 in second and third grades combined, 100 in fourth, 75 in fifth.
