Local court fines military man for speeding on Route 0
A Korean veteran William E. Surrell, 20, of Dayton Ohio, was found guilty by Magistrate Albur F. Sheffield for exceeding 70 mph on Route 0. He received a $250 fine plus 30 days air term and 60 days extra for nonpayment. Trooper Myers testified he reached speeds near 85 mph with heavy eastbound traffic. Several other locals faced fines for offenses from loitering to intoxication in Frederick County.

29th Infantry 115th Reunites in Frederick Rediscovering Blue and Gray
More than a hundred World War I veterans of the 115th Infantry by the 29th Division gathered in Frederick for company reunions. Headquarters Company and the band met in the Francis Scott Key room while A Company met at Hotel Frederick. Col E M Slappey spoke at the Headquarters event. The gatherings drew out-of-state members and noted attendees included Lt Col Robert F Barrick and Mary Anders. A picnic was held at Ambrill State Park with plans for a 1952 reunion in Bethlehem, Pa.

Six Injured In Route 40A Head On Collision
Six people were injured and two cars demolished in a head on crash on Route 40 A just east of the Frederick Washington county line. The accident occurred about three o'clock this morning. The injured include Glover Williams 23 of Detroit Joel X Hall 19 Myrus Shah Burkes 43 Sylvia Shah Burkes 9 Charles McLean 21 and Francis Harrington 23. state trooper M J Whitney investigated and said Williams crossed the center line causing the collision in the east bound lane on top of South Mountain. Both vehicles were late models and were demolished. The injured were taken to Washington County Hospital Hagertown in the state police ambulance.

Heart Attack Claimed Engineer Gideon On Freight Run
Joseph H. Gideon 52, a Baltimore and Ohio railroad engineer from Brunswick, collapsed August 30 while operating a freight train through Knobley tunnel near Patterson Creek West Virginia.
