Unusual feat as switch-hitter hits two grand slams
Umpire William McGowan recalls a 1917 Blue Ridge League game at Frederick Maryland where Lu Blue, Martinsburg, hit a right handed grand slam in the ninth inning to tie 4-4 and then, switching to left handed with the bases loaded in the twelfth, hit another grand slam to win 8-4. This rare feat, two grand slams with the bases loaded in the same game, is highlighted as possibly unique in baseball history.
