Summers Farm Fire Controlled Near Barth Jolows

A fire at Jonas V. Summers farm near Barth Jolows damaged straw and wheat land and some machinery and about a dozen chickens. Thresher Oliver Baavis spotted sparks and moved the machine, firemen contained the blaze with help from a city engine. Loss estimated at about 2500 dollars. outbuildings and house were saved.

Fire destroys barn and outbuildings in Ellerton blaze

A fire on John W. renfeltz property near Ellerton destroyed a strawstack, the adjoining barn, garage and wagonshed, plus oats, barley and 30 tons of hay. Baltimore states Van Lear Black Jr cut off from a $50 000 trust in his father’s will. He said he would not say whether he would contest it. The will was submitted to probate after testimony from the captain, steward, and Black’s valet that the publisher disappeared from his yacht on August 18.
