Murder Charge Over Womans Shot Precedes Mount Airy Shooting
Mount Airy area police report a fatal shooting at the Johnson home near Sid ne y three miles west of Mt Airy Frederick County. Emma Johnson 4 colored is charged with murder after a struggle over a 38 caliber pistol ending in the death of William Wesley Johnson. Officers found two live bullets behind a chimney and a pistol hidden there. Johnson reportedly confronted his wife who then fired three shots striking him in the heart. Detective Dr Van Pool and the state attorney investigated while the couple’s family provided conflicting accounts. Emma Johnson was jailed awaiting grand jury action. The same day the county board of education discussed bus routes and hiring changes for Middletown and Park s school staff.
