SAILORS THRILLING VOYAGE AFTER SHIP ABANDONED IN FIRE
London Sept 4 reports from the Danish steamer Klampenborg bound Blyth to Cronstadt show the ship was abandoned after a fire reached petroleum tanks and caused a huge explosion. The third engineer was killed and six crewmen are missing. Survivors endured a violent storm, with one boat presumed swamped. The remaining crew later took refuge aboard the Klampenborg again and were rescued after near exhaustion.
