Camp Detrick News Highlights Volunteer Ladies Club Formed

Fifteen wives of NCOs formed the Volunteer Ladies Club at the Officers Open Mess with Mrs Daniel J. Diette elected president. Officers include Mrs Beverly Englebrecht as vice president and Mrs Whit Russell as secretary. Meetings set for first Wednesdays monthly and third Wednesdays for social events, with a September 22 social. Calls invited to Mrs Russell ext 2254 for details.

Roberts Father Offers Lie Detector Test in Child Kidnap Case

In Miami Florida James T Roberts father of Judith Ann Roberts offered to take a lie detector test to aid investigators in the July kidnapping slaying. State's Attorney Brautigam said the offer was voluntary and cautioned that the Roberts family remains under suspicion. Mrs Dorothy Lawrence, a Baltimore friend, accompanied Roberts and gave no new testimony. She was not subpoenaed for grand jury appearances. A separate item from Woodland California reports Fred L Vannucci 34 harvesting ten rattlesnakes and ten doves in a hunting trip.

Special Awards Highlight Maryland State Fair 4-H Winners

Eight second generation 4-H members earned special awards at the Maryland State Fair for dairy cattle judging. Awards included tie clasps for boys and bracelets for girls, with many coming from families active in 4-H. County-wide exhibits and individual showings spanned Holsteins, Jerseys, Ayrshires, and Guernseys, led by Ballenger and Stiles family entries.
