Market Upswing Amid Speculative Readjustment And Strong Industrial Averages
New York traders faced extensive readjustment of speculative accounts and profit taking, creating irregular price movements. Despite this, demand for several fragrant industrials pushed the average of 70 leading industries to a new high. Money was ample all week with stable day to day liquidity. Dividend distributions totaled about 236.09 million, with T. & Steel Common, General Motors and General Electric leading as new peak prices appeared on heavy turnover. Weaker rail shares faded as Atlantic Refiner and Pan American Petroleum posted unfavorable earnings. Feary of Western Maryland issues dominated rail trading as Taplin interests strengthened positions in soft coal fields.
