National Airlines flight attendants resume talks in Washington
National Airlines and its striking flight attendants met again in Washington as a 1,200 member union pressed for higher pay benefits and better conditions. Management offered 496 to 768, while the union seeks 537 to 800 for new hires and top scale. Flights were canceled across 45 U.S. cities plus London, with about 7,660 employees affected and 1,000 supervisory staff kept on to operate remaining services. The strike, the carrier’s seventh since 1962 and second in a year, follows a 19 month deadlock and leaves demand for wage and benefit improvements unresolved.
