Bayard C. Burgess former post master at New Market was released on 500 bail on a charge of feloniously embezzling 423.78 in postal funds. Indicted August 26 he faces arraignment in Baltimore. Alleged defalcations occurred January 27 to July 23 this year. Burgess was succeeded by LeRoy Hoff.
Edward Fox of South street described a white mad tom catfish with pink eyes seen at the News-Post office this morning. He noted it is the first such specimen he has encountered after handling thousands of catfish, finding the odd fish last night while collecting bait.

Edward J. Smith city attorney reports from George R. Haresty secretary of the Maryland State Board that special examinations for master plumber per journeyman will be held September 11 in Baltimore. Applicants must file by September 10 with two master plumbers as references and present credentials in Room 205 Old Town National Bank Paulding Gay Street and Fallaway.
Felix Morley editor of the Washington Post is elected to the Board of Visitors and Governors of St John’s College Annapolis. Announcement comes from Dr Amos F Hutchins board president. Morley is the second new appointee since the college adopted a new program under Stringfellow Barr president of the institution.
Rebecca Lee Davis, Hood College graduate, returned to Frederick to marry Leroy Metzler in a double ring ceremony at Joseph H. Apple’s home near the campus. The couple plans to live in York Pa after September and were attended by family members and friends. A later church school outing and council meeting are also noted.
