Slippery Baltimore Pike Sparks Multicar Crash Report
A sequence of crashes along the Baltimore pike between Haugh’s blacksmith shop and Mt. Carmel chapel caused many vehicles to overturn on a red clay slick surface. Deputy C. W. Smith cited road conditions as the cause. occupants escaped serious injury. Several motorists including John Duke of Washington and a Grimes family member were cited for minor offenses as traffic fines were issued to others. Additional incidents near Ridgeville and Braddock Heights could not be confirmed.
