John O Donnell guides twins through Belle Vue tunnels to freedom
A former slave named John O'Donnell recounts his escape from Belle Vue on the Underground Railroad. He explains the springhouse tunnel to the river, Joseph's warning, and the mission to join his waiting family with Rev. Baxter aiding in hiding them. He recalls Miss Elizabeth and leaving behind a Bible and a box. Next week about The Stone by the River.
