Public hearing on Poolesville area master plan set for Nov 26
A public hearing will be held at 8 p.m. November 26 in the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission auditorium in Silver Spring to discuss the Poolesville area draft master plan. The plan proposes no growth for the current population, promotes heritage conservation, and contemplates half acre lots for certain communities, with zoning changes and an interim development moratorium if adopted. Judge to hear arguments on MontCo police lottery
Montgomery County six Judicial Circuit Judge Joseph Mathias will hear arguments from police cadet applicants suing over a county lottery policy used to select new officer class. A temporary stop on the class was granted last Friday, delaying training at the Public Service Training Academy in Gaithersburg. Police Chief Bernard Crooke Jr. said the department would comply but criticized the delay as harming patrol strength and denying qualified minorities a fair chance without quotas.
