Mack Announces Cutback of 300 at Hagerstown Plant
About 300 of the 1,500 workers at the Mack Truck plant in Hagerstown will be laid off as a result of a heavy truck production cutback. The 23 percent reduction will begin November 2 and run through February 1971, affecting Mack assembly plants in Allentown Pennsylvania and Hayward California as well. Zenon C. Hansen, Mack board chairman and president, announced the plan. Last year the U.S. imported 1.43 million cases of gin.
