Thousands of children and adults are expected to line Frederick streets for the Jaycee Halloween Parade amid damp weather forecasts. Rain is likely tonight and tomorrow with temperatures in the 60s and 40s, possibly delaying the event and prompting a rain date if canceled.
Thieves cut 19 760 feet of bare copper wire from line poles near Buckeystown disrupting Western Union and B O Railroad communications. About 80 pounds of copper were taken at 32 cents per pound totaling roughly 281 60. The theft occurred around 3 30 am along the B O tracks north of Manor Woods Road with six Western Union lines and 13 railroad lines affected. Also police investigate a burglary where suspects drank two beers and stole ice cream before fleeing. two beer and cake pieces noted.
Frederick County candidates for state legislative seats largely ignored a Maryland Municipal League questionnaire on municipal issues. Only 17 of 43 senate hopefuls and 46 of 142 House candidates replied nationwide. Responses praised fiscal relief aims and municipal platform details, but several incumbents and party candidates did not respond.

Mrs Dan Weinberg elected Frederick's Volunteer of the Year at the Red Cross Chapter quarterly meeting. J Milton Brunk said the award will be presented at the Maryland State Conference in Baltimore.
