Contributions to the United Givers Fund total only 78,209 dollars or 32.6 percent of the county quota with ten days remaining. Last year at this time 125,839 had been raised. Final report meeting set for November 9 at noon at the Federated Charities Kindergarten Building.
Eastalco Aluminum Co and the Steel Workers Union in Baltimore ratified a three year contract. Industrial relations director Peter Stein said the agreement, effective August 1, mirrors industry deals with no major operational changes. Renewal is set for August 1974 after talks began October 5 following a July 28 vote by employees to join the union. James Wyper and Stein led early negotiations.

Walkersville officials voted to operate under sewer hook-up terms with the Metropolitan Sanitary Commission and opposed Frederick City's mayor and aldermen action. The commission approved four Walkersville plumbers to hook up to the Frederick City sewer system, while Frederick demands master plumbers from the city, a move Walkersville fears will raise costs.
