Wallace warns of unemployment without boost in peacetime output

Cleveland, Oct. 27 Vice President Henry A Wallace said there can be no jobs for everyone unless peacetime production increases. He asserted production must rise 40 percent to absorb displaced war workers, warning 10 to 12 million could be unemployed otherwise. He spoke for a Blue Network broadcast tied to the Food for Freedom conference. A later note says 3 million new workers are expected, with reconversion challenges ahead as war contracts end. Firemen plan a quarterly business meeting Friday at 7:30 at the West Church street engine house.
