City to pursue airport improvements with state and federal aid
The Mayor and Aldermen authorized adding improvements to the north south runway apron and taxiway at the municipal airport. The plan relies on 50 percent federal aid and a $27,500 state contribution, with timing tied to surface drainage delays. The action mirrors the prior administration, reaffirming intent to proceed next spring or early summer, despite earlier postponements. The session also included retirement on half pay of Sgt. Austin L. Heffner, new loading zone ordinance instruction for East Church Street school, acceptance of Bartgis and Zimmerman tire bid at 296.82, and payment of bills totaling 4117.54.
