Washington October 27 A meat industry economist warned the nation faces a meat shortage and rising prices in 1951 unless the government creates incentives to boost output Carl H Wilken of the Raw Materials National Council said a study for the National Independent Meat Packers Association projects consumers will average 155 to 160 pounds of meat next year, well above the Agriculture Department forecast of producers output If livestock feeding surveys hold, production may not exceed this year’s 145 pounds per person.
