Tragic death shadows Sherry Windt in Maryland college
Sherry Windt, a 2 percent student at St. John's College in Annapolis, apparently died by overdose in her dorm room after skipping a seminar on Sophocles. The case echoes her four year-old murder of her mother in Bethesda, once attributed to a multiple personality. Friends and family spoke of her loneliness and brilliance, while psychiatrists warned of self-harm risk. Her death occurred as classmates discussed Oedipus Rex, with notes and questions about fate, guilt, and support.
