Rickover Attacks Education Reform Short of Impact
Vice Admiral Hyman G. Rickover criticized public school reforms as limited in effect saying only one in a thousand students shows real change. He urged longer school days, year, smaller schools, better text books, and focused teacher training while condemning life adjustment theory and slow progress. In a separate note, Baltimore’s Friendship International Airport saw a 24 percent passenger drop in the first quarter, blamed on Chantilly competition, with hopes of eventual air service recovery.
