Telephone Co. Project To Cost 2200 Dollars
The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company began construction Monday of a new man hole at North Market and East Church Streets. The project, costing 2200 dollars, should finish in ten working days. Foreman James E. Bartgis Jr. said a new 2100 pair cable broke between Church and Second Street, making the manhole necessary. The conduit layout under sidewalks on North Market avoided a manhole earlier, but distance now requires it to pull large cables, expanding service to north and north-west Frederick.
