Bridge champions Martel and Stansby triumph at world level
Chip Martel and Lew Stansby, noted bridge stars, have won three world titles together. In a North-South deal they opened with a two clubs artificial bid, then pursued a slam in six clubs after a strong cue-bid sequence. Martel led the diamonds, ducked a spade, and navigated trumps to secure the contract despite lethal red-suit breaks.
