Psychological treatment urged for man sentenced to Patuxent
Lewis Eugene Nolan, 23, described as antisocial by Circuit Court Judge William W. Wenner, was sentenced to seven years with a two year term for marijuana possession and consecutive terms for grand theft auto and other charges. The judge recommended incarceration at Patuxent Institute with psychiatric treatment, rejecting a request to keep Nolan in jail pending his Nov. 16 escape trial. Nolan faced two high speed car chase incidents with stolen vehicles and assaults on officers, including a prior escape from Warvland Penitentiary fears cited by defense.

Man wins right to end dialysis and dies in Mineola case
Peter Cinque, 41, a former English teacher with diabetes, won a court order to stop dialysis at Lydia Hall Hospital in Mineola New York. Justice Arthur Spott ruled Cinque made an informed rational decision after learning of the ruling by telephone. He died about 5 p.m. at Freeport hospital shortly after the ruling. His relatives and six brothers and a sister were en route to the hospital when he died and accused the hospital of pulling the plugs before they could reach him. The hospital defended its actions as following patient care standards. Cinque had been on dialysis three times weekly after kidney failure and had lost his sight and both legs to diabetes. He retired from teaching in 1969 and pursued doctoral studies in psychology before health deteriorated.
