Gor ton Peace tells County Commissioners at a budget hearing that the election office needs two additional voting machines at $1,600 each. Myersville Faces Water Shortage as Civil Defense Equipment Aids
Myersville uses a civil defense pumping unit to replenish a half million gallon reservoir serving about 400 residents. Four of five springs feeding the reservoir have dried during a long drought. Farmers drill wells up to 150 feet deep and trucks haul water. Water from a stream on South Mountain has fed the reservoir since August. The unit was borrowed from the U S Army depot in New Cumberland Pennsylvania. School closure during a Maryland teachers association convention briefly raised reservoir levels.
