Nineteen men leave today for induction into armed services
Nineteen county men depart by special bus from Selective Service headquarters on Hast Church Street for the main Army Recruiting Office in Baltimore for induction. Fifteen inductees are from Board No. 45 and four from Board No. 46. Officials are reclassifying some married men from 3-A to 1-A as pre induction exams proceed. Names from Board 45 include Harry J Summer and others in Frederick, Brunswick, and Middletown. Board 46 inductees are Charles M Knott, Kenneth J Joy, Wilbur E Gross, and John S Holinger from Emmitsburg.

Directed Verdict For Defendants At Humpback Bridge Crash
A directed verdict was issued for defendants in a $1,000 damage suit arising from a March 1950 crash at the Humpback bridge on Route 71. Mental Patient Kills State Policeman at Virginia Hospital Farm
In Petersburg Virginia on October 23 a mentally disturbed man shot and killed a State Police investigator during a gunfight at a state hospital farm near town. Six others were wounded including two patients and two hospital attendants before the assailant surrendered. Local police earlier found a man lying near the Farmers Cooperative plant and, after investigation, identified him as Martin Joseph Reiley of Brunswick who was heavily intoxicated and jailed.

Blood Drive Sees 108 Pints Collected in Brunswick Visit

Middleburg Man Injured in Route 1 Crash
Stamford report details a fatality and injuries from a crash on the Boston Post Road. Mrs Eleanor Bloom 26 of Charleroi Pa died instantly when a car rear ended a broken down trailer truck.
