The Supreme Court agreed to hear an appeal by six lawyers who received contempt sentences for conduct during the New York trial of eleven Communist party leaders. Patsy Wiles three year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Alvey Wiles Mountaindale was admitted to Frederick Memorial Hospital for scald injuries mostly to the left arm and side of body. The accident occurred at noon and the child was hurt at home. officials said not too serious. Mr and Mrs William C Duvall Woodbine were treated for abrasions lacerations and contusions after a car crash near the C M Waltz funeral home Winfield and discharged. The incident occurred about 1045. The eight day strike of rebel longshoremen spread to Staten Island piers as a local union president ordered dockers to stay off work.
