5000 Gals Gas Lost In Tanker Crash
A tanker loaded with 5000 gal lions of gasoline turned over near New Market on Route 40 at 6 30 a m. The driver escaped injury. State Police listed five early today and Sunday accidents. Total damage in the tanker crash was estimated at 2500 dollars. Operator was Robert T. Lawrence, 43, Baltimore. Gasoline leaked away with no containment. Other accidents included a Knoxville couple injured in a four car crash near Frederick on Route 340. Richard Thompson, 35, Baltimore, charged with reckless driving. A separate hit and run near Frederick on Route 240 involved a 1940 coupe driven by James A. Hammond, 37, Gaithersburg. Two cars on Shookstown road sustained about 325 dollars in damage. Richard L. Mazer and Paul B. Urey faced reckless driving charges.

Investigation Of Shooting At Burkittsville Elementary
An investigation continued into a noon Friday shooting of sixth grader William R. Bloyer at Burkittsville Elementary. Police say Bloyer and classmate Thomas Kidwell were burning paper trash in an incinerator when a gunshot came from a nearby field striking Bloyer in the left shoulder. He was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital where the bullet was removed and he was released to go home.
