Hood Concert By Paul Spivak At Hood College
Paul Spivak Argentine pianist and North American debut at Town Hall New York in 1943 will give a public concert in Brodbeck Hall Hood College on Monday evening October 26 at seven o'clock. Open to the public without admission charge. He will also speak and meet students and faculty during a two day visit including lectures on South American music and a reception.

Community club annual reading and meeting notes
American's Creed was read by Mrs. T P Culler. The reading chair man spoke of interesting books to be read. Poems were read by Mrs Rov Poole, Mrs Howard L Smith and Mrs Chester Young. Mrs Smith read an article on Trouble Spots Of The World. The home demonstration agent lise Lou Davis emphasized quality foods for freezing or canning. The demonstration was given by Miss Davis with assistance from Miss Anna Derr, food and nutrition chairman. Miss Davis demonstrated magic lemon pudding and fruit frosting. Mrs Culler reported on the all booth. The club voted $5 to the Home for the Aged. A community get together with the grange is planned in the community hall on November 1. The club adjourned to meet with Miss Anna Derr on November 18. Attending S D of L meet are boys bound for the annual convention of the state organization of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty at Hastings Hotel in Green City. An open memorial service will be held for members who died in the past year. Convention starts at 9:30 am with a banquet at night. Friday begins at 9:20 am with elections of state officers and installation of new officers in the afternoon. A large group from Mountain City Council No 12 attends the session.CLASS MEETS On October 16 the Victory Class met at the home of Mrs Catherine Eyler Woodsboro with 12 members and eight guests. Margaret Fogle presided. A program by Isabell Keeney and Pauline Fogle featured participants Pauline Fogle, Ruth Keeney, Pauline Smith, Margaret Long, Lulu Beard, Marie Fogle, Katharyn Eyler, Rosa Mat Cecil and Mary Lee Keeney.
