Braddock Heights Band’s Zenith and Leader Biser’s Career
The Braddock Heights Concert Orchestra and Band drew large crowds at Hotel Braddock under conductor Irving S. Biser, who also built a long postal career. From 1890s origins as Frederick Select Orchestra to Braddock Heights fame, the group performed operas and grand numbers, with soloists Eleanor Markey and George Edward Smith. Biser, a prolific teacher and later Postmaster, recalled early gigs and wartime shifts, noting a life split between music and service.
