Moberly Thurnont Court Crier Dies at 85 in Frederick
Marion Shriner Moberly longtime Court Crier and law library librarian in Frederick died at 85 after a three month illness at his North Market Street home. Born in Frederick March 20 1862 to a former mayor he rang the courthouse bell signaling World War I and World War II endings and served 33 years in office. He was active in Centennial United Brethren church and survived by two sisters and nieces. Funeral services set for Friday at 2 pm at the East Church Street funeral home with burial at Olivet Cemetery.

Rail collision injures twenty two near St Paul
A Soo Line passenger train and a Northern Pacific freight collided head on near St Paul on October 22 injuring 22 people. Fined $50 After Fatal Accident Adjudged technically guilty of failing to stop and render assistance after a fatal accident on East Patrick street near the Fair Grounds.
In Frederick, Kermit W. Smallwood, 488 West South street, was fined the minimum of $59 and costs after a Peoples Court hearing. He was found guilty of failing to stop after a collision that killed Clarence R. Eshleman, 23, of Hagerstown, at East Patrick street near Hamilton Avenue. The court dismissed charges of reckless driving. Smallwood testified a pedestrian suddenly walked in front of his car, that he tried to stop, and that Wagner's car then ran over the man. Deputies and police testified Smallwood initially denied striking the man but later admitted wrongdoing. The incident involved two cars, with witnesses including Emory Roderick and Paul Mossburg. Additionally, other motorists were fined for various speeding infractions in related matters.
