Draftees and Veterans Guide For Reservists and Servicemen
The Army presses a six month Reserve training plan amid low draft calls. Recruitment lags due to information gaps and limited publicity, with a hope that higher draft calls next year will boost signups. About 1,000 volunteers joined in September. 500 sent to five camps including Fort Jackson and Fort Knox. Trainees will receive leave, shortening training to 22 of 26 weeks. Plans aim to recruit around 55,000 by next July and strengthen the Reserve to support active forces in war.
