Frederick officials launch a campaign against overnight street parking from 7 a.m. to 6 a.m. tagging cars and enforcing fines. Chief Straley and Mayor Munshower say street cleaning and garbage collection suffer when cars occupy streets, with no warning tags issued this time.
The five Dionne sisters arrived in New York with their entourage and Archbishop Spellman, greeting crowds at Grand Central as they began a four day stay. They toured Times Square and Central Park by bus, will attend a Smith Foundation banquet rehearsal, and plan more sight seeing and a beauty treatment.

Mrs Ernest Stotler and Marvin Yost of Berkeley Springs were slightly injured as drivers of the other two vehicles.
Shirley Johnson, 68, longtime Harpers Ferry sightseer and baggage handler, died after a heart attack and fall at his home. For decades he greeted trains at the Harpers Ferry station, narrated local history, and guided visitors to top vantage points where the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers meet. His second wife survives.
Tokyo reports indicate informants say Chinese Communist and Soviet troops cannot enter the Korean war with any chance of success.
