Frederick County Scholarship Winners Announced by Community Foundation
The Frederick County Community Foundation named multiple scholarship recipients including Jennifer Reed of Adamstown a Brunswick High School graduate and Frederick Community College student on the Dean’s List who also works as a certified nursing assistant. The list highlights grants to WA Spencer Gov Thomas Johnson High School graduate. Margaret Skuwen Northwestern University student. Richard A. Boyer Walkersville alumnus and biochem eng track. Michael Fisher Frederick High School graduate heading to Howard University. Heather Kinsie Hood College entrant. Kathryn Pregenzer University of Maryland Baltimore County theatre major. Trinity United Methodist Church and the Frederick and Gov Thomas Johnson high school area Community Agency School Services programs raised more than 750 this fall to supply school materials for families in need. The event featured leaders from Trinity church and local school service coordinators.

Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary Meeting Report
The Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary met at The Givens Suing Home on Oct 1 with 22 members present. Stanley Selinski announced plans to name the courtyard garden The Bertha Kennedy Garden in memory of former board member Mrs Kennedy. He outlined expansion plans and a site study of current buildings and land, with possible razing of the present building and new construction possibly beginning in 2003. Rev Esther R Ziegler offered a Psalm and prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and Betty Wise noted 144 members total. Labbs Staley reported 43 volunteers contributing 761.5 hours in September. Next meeting set for Nov 7 at 9:00 am.
