Frederick County Liquor Board imposed a 45 day liquor license suspension on Towne And Country Liquors at 34 Water St Thurmont for its fifth conviction of selling alcohol to minors. The store’s one year probation ends after a May renewal and another conviction within 12 months could lead to revocation. The action, approved by Commission chairmen McClellan and Cline, faced opposition from Commissioner Was.
Montgomery County detectives investigate a suspicious death after a white man in his 30s was found 25 feet off West Willard Road near West Offutt in Poolesville. Police secured the scene as the medical examiner and investigators processed evidence. autopsy results pending.
Deputy Estel Paul Bennett facing first degree assault and reckless endangerment charges after a dispute near a truck. Deputy Matt Lisax reported a dozen deputies fired shots but no shell was found. Witnesses said a shotgun was fired once. investigation continuing with a court appearance planned.
At Frederick Circuit Court Judge John H. Tisdale notes interrogation admissibility in the near fatal August shooting. Defendants Divay L. Jackson and Keith E. A 17 year old Frederick student at Gov Thomas Johnson High School admitted distributing marijuana after an informant arranged a deal in a local grocery store lot. He was placed on community detention with a $230 bond noted and faces a disposition after a drug and alcohol assessment. In a separate case 16 year old Nicholas Garber admitted taking a car and wrecking the Corvette.
