FCC may lift cap on fees for cable add ons
The FCC plans a new option allowing cable systems to charge unregulated fees for additional channels not on existing tiers. Channels could be any unused networks and sold in a new pack to subscribers, while regulated service prices remain unchanged. The plan aims to curb rate hikes and avoid forcing unwanted channels on customers. It would freeze current lineups on regulated tiers and not move channels from regulated to unregulated tiers.
