Dr Camp pleads guilty to income tax evasion
Frederick oral surgeon Dr Gene Camp pleaded guilty in U S District Court to evading more than 94 dollars in 1975 federal income tax. The plea, part of a bargain, drops three other charges seeking about 150000 dollars in taxes from 1972 to 1974. Sentencing could be up to five years in jail and a 10000 dollar fine, though 60 days in jail plus 45 days work release are likely per agreement.

Panel weighs extra aiding of energy bills this winter
Panel subcommittee considers an additional 1.1 million to help poor people pay energy bills this winter. It marks O Neill's first appearance before a committee since becoming House top Democrat three years ago. Senate votes 1.2 billion for winter aid and 30 billion through 1990 for consumer energy costs. About 20 billion would be issued as welfare and food stamp checks. Income tax credits of up to 200 would go to households earning 20 000 or less, with smaller credits for incomes between 20 000 and 22 000. Median national income is 16 000.
