Raid tipped off on bootlegging den ending in arrest
A bootlegging raid near South Market Street led to the arrest of John Perkins with a sack of intoxicating liquor as officers moved in after Despeaux had learned of a planned raid around six o’clock Saturday evening. Despeaux testified he heard of the raid the previous day and believed officers would strike later that night.
