Capital Tries to Force Immediate Arbitration in Steel Strike

Washington reports show the employers at the industrial conference pushing for immediate arbitration of the steel strike. The labor and public groups voted to postpone action, while the capital side argued urgency. President Wilson signaled possible adjournment to seek a solution without derailing the conference. Grand Encampment Opens in Williamsport Pa

The Grand Encampment of Pennsylvania, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, opened at the O F Temple in Williamsport on Oct 16 with over 300 delegates from lodges statewide. Mayor Heagland welcomed the group, Louis A. Jones spoke as grand patriarch, and Allentown was chosen for next year’s session.
