The Billion Dollar Idea in Everyday Bills
A column explains how large a billion dollars is using relatable figures. One billion dollars laid as bills would stretch about 966,670 miles or four trips around the world, buy over 300,000 cars at 3000 each, and would cover half the United States bumper to bumper. If one spent a dollar per minute, it would take 2,000 years to exhaust a billion. All U S farm output in a year could be bought for a billion, underscoring that every government dollar comes from taxpayers.
